Founder & Managing Partner
James is the Founder & Managing Partner of Sweetwater Capital Partners and chairs the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to Sweetwater, James was Co-founder & President of Madison Creek Partners, a healthcare services company. While at Madison, James oversaw and completed six (6) acquisitions of eleven (11) healthcare facilities. By the time he left, Madison had reached over one thousand (>1,000) employees and exceeded US$70 million in annual revenues and $10 million in EBITDA. Prior to starting Madison, James was a Partner & Head of Secondaries at StepStone Group, a $14 billion global private capital investment firm. He served on the firm’s Investment Committee. During his private equity career, he has led approximately forty (40) secondary transactions totaling over $1.0 billion in invested capital. He is a CPA and a CFA Charterholder. James holds an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA and graduated with a BS in Accounting from Brigham Young University with University Honors.
Gregg is a Managing Partner at Sweetwater Capital Partners. He is a proven executive with a distinctive, strategic combination of visionary leadership and business acumen. He has been instrumental in building multimillion-dollar businesses. Gregg has over 25 years of portfolio management and financial market experience. He launched Dorado Capital Management (DCM). The hedge fund grew to over $350 million AUM. DCM was acquired by JLF Asset Management where he remained as a managing partner. In 2013, he went into the private sector as CEO of Events.com, a SaaS software startup. Under his tenure, the value of the business grew ten-fold, and the company remains a leader in the endurance industry. Gregg has been featured on the cover of Investor’s Business Daily, CBS MarketWatch, The Wall Street Transcript and Barron’s. Gregg holds an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at USC and graduated with a BS in Finance from SDSU.
Brent is a Managing Partner at Sweetwater Capital Partners and a member of the firm’s investment committee. Prior to Sweetwater, Brent was a General Partner at Sway Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm. As General Partner with Sway, he served on the investment committee, and helped managed primary and secondary transactions. Prior to Sway, he held the position of Director of Corporate Development at DDi Corp. (NASDAQ) of which he was instrumental in the sale of the business to ViaSystems Group, Inc. (later acquired by TTM Technologies, Inc.). Brent has held positions in investments and M&A, including Managing Director at RFC Capital Partners (a merchant bank and private equity fund), and legal counsel, for over 19 years. He holds an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at USC, a JD from Whittier Law School, and graduated with a BS in Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside.
CFO & CCO
Travis is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of Sweetwater Capital Partners, as well as a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to Sweetwater, Travis was CFO and managing director over a period of 14 years at RedHill Realty Investors, a private real estate investment company and family of real estate funds. He was also the CFO for a period of 2 years at Madison Creek Partners, a healthcare services company co-founded by James Gamett. Travis’s early career included time at Price Waterhouse LLP (currently PricewaterhouseCoopers) and Credit Suisse. Travis holds a master’s and B.S. in Accounting from Brigham Young University, graduating magna cum laude.
Matt is a Vice President on the investment team at Sweetwater, responsible for sourcing and underwriting secondary investments. Matt joined Sweetwater in 2016 as a Senior Associate focused on secondary transactions, as well as providing support for Sweetwater’s primary advisory mandate. Prior to joining Sweetwater, Matt was the Managing Director of Coast Security & Investigations, Inc. in San Diego, California, where he conducted and managed background investigations, due diligence research, and forensic accounting for angel investors and family offices considering early-stage venture investments. By the time he left, the company had exceeded US $5 million in annual revenues and $1 million in EBITDA. Matt holds an MBA with a finance concentration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC and graduated with a BS in Business Administration from California State University, San Marcos.
Hahn is a Vice President at Sweetwater Capital Partners, responsible for sourcing and underwriting secondary investments. Prior to Sweetwater, Hahn was an Assistant Vice President at Old Mutual Asset Management where he was responsible for strategic investments and oversight of the firm’s affiliate managers. Prior to Old Mutual, Hahn was an Associate at Palladin Consumer Retail Partners where he completed the acquisitions of KT Health and InMotion Entertainment. Hahn began his career as an Analyst at Macquarie Capital, where he worked on M&A transactions and financings. He has taught financial modeling seminars for new analyst and associate classes at investment banks as well as students at MBA programs, such as Harvard Business School and Boston College. Hahn is a CFA Charterholder and holds a BS in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business.
Aura manages investor relations at Sweetwater, acting as the point of contact among the Managing Partners, colleagues, and investors. Prior to Sweetwater, she worked as a Customer Relations and Operations Manager in the Fashion Industry. Aura began her career working for a US Government Intelligence Agency directly supporting Senior Government Officials. She holds an M.Ed. from Penn State University and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Miami University.
Christian is an Analyst at Sweetwater Capital Partners and assists in sourcing potential deal flow and supporting investor relations. He is a communications and performance specialist whose clients include Apple, KPMG, Google, Accenture and numerous other Fortune 100 companies. Christian’s prior experience also includes developing business to business relations for Hewlett-Packard and project leads for Electronic Arts, Ketel One, and Clorox. He holds a B.A. (Hons) from the University of Manchester in Speech and Performance.
